With this release a the contemporary era of Bodycocktail opens as Galicia & its Galegos begins to inspire and exert influence. It's a grand story well worth recapping.

On my 1st live tour of Spain as Zan Francisco in 1993 I asked my buddy Francisco López about Galicia, that chunk of Spain on the northwest coast north of Portugal. His response was like a gauntlet being thrown down "It's impossible to get concerts there". So I fell in love with all the easy parts of Spain to play concerts in over the years and it wasn't until networking via MySpace that I was able to crack open Galicia for touring.

It dawned on me I had been swimming in the shallow end of the Spanish experience once Galegos welcomed me into their lives. The absolutely POSSESSED audiences of the CSO Casa Atochas squat in A Coruña gave me such a reception like I've never witnessed as a musician. It is no hyperbole to state that the Galegos of Galicia have set me on a path of constant improvement both as an artist and a human.

Never have I compelled to do my best possible work as I have before my audiences in Galicia. After a tour I learn I'm more capable then I previously knew and I take that into studio and do better work. A series of yearly and then bi-yearly tours has created a virtuous circle that is frankly noticeable over the years and this releases is where it starts.

The vocals are more evoked, stretched, strained and present than ever. And the rare appearance of the Kentucky drawl is put to mad effect on "Shrink".

The cover photo is taken by Alejandro Duran, the 1st person to take me under his wing to get my 1st Galicia tours rolling. I had bought this Hohner melodica at a secondhand store near Casa Atochas and was playing it at Cabo Ortegal the northernmost spot in northwest Spain. We saw goats picking their way across the impossible cliffs and there I spotted my 1st percebes in the wild.
